The health monitoring has been studied to ensure integrity of design of engine structure by detection, quantification, and prediction of damages. Early detection of faults may allow the downtime of maintenance to be rescheduled, thus preventing sudden shutdown of machines. In cylinder pressure developed, vibrations and noise emissions data provide a rich source of information about condition of engines. Monitoring of vibrations and noise emissions are novel non-intrusive methodologies for which positioning of various transducers are important issue. The presented work shows applicability of these diagnosis methodologies adopted in case of diesel engines. The effects of changing various fuel injection parameters was analyzed. Scope of using non-intrusive technique has been analyzed by changing locations of microphone. Novelty of this worklies in exploring signal processing methods for various locations around the engine test set up. Various frequency ranges of contributing noise and vibration sources were identified. Time-Frequency analysis showed the onset of various cyclic. Based on the identification of various frequency bands, it is possible to device suitable filters in order to extract more information.  相似文献

I survey highlights of the practice of physics and allied sciences in Melbourne,Australia, from the 1850s, soon after Europeans first settled in the area, to the present. I note recognizable sites of past and current physical-science activity that may be visited, as well as exhibits of historic items of physics apparatus. I trace the role of physics, in the course of a century and a half, in the evolution of a pioneering settlement into a large city embedded in a modern industrial economy.  相似文献

We propose a three-terminal heat engine based on semiconductor superlattices for energy harvesting. The periodicity of the superlattice structure creates an energy miniband, giving an energy window for allowed electron transport. We find that this device delivers a large power, nearly twice than the heat engine based on quantum wells, with a small reduction of efficiency. This engine also works as a refrigerator in a different regime of the system's parameters. The thermoelectric performance of the refrigerator is analyzed, including the cooling power and coefficient of performance in the optimized condition. We also calculate phonon heat current through the system and explore the reduction of phonon heat current compared to the bulk material. The direct phonon heat current is negligible at low temperatures, but dominates over the electronic at room temperature and we discuss ways to reduce it.  相似文献

Knowledge of in-situ fuel distributions in practical combustion devices, such as internal combustion engines, is crucial for research and devlopment purposes. Numerous imaging techniques, mostly based on laser-induced fluorescence (LIF), have been developed and yield high levels of 2-D spatial information, but generally lack the temporal resolution (frame rates) necessary to resolve important timescales at sub-millisecond levels for sustained times. A planar LIF technique for quantitatively visualizing fuel distribution is presented which gives not only high spatial resolution, but also high temporal resolution. Using a high-speed CMOS camera, a lens-coupled image intensifier, and frequency-tripled diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser allows for capturing LIF images of biacetyl that is used as a fluorescence tracer at 12 kHz (one crank-angle resolution at 2000 RPM) for hundreds of consecutive engine cycles. The LIF signal strength of biacetyl doped in iso-octane is shown to vary substantially over a wide range of temperatures and pressures. The low absorption coefficient at 355 nm and a longpass filter in the detection path exclude bias errors due to laser beam attenuation and fluorescence trapping. An intensifier gate time of 350 ns is shown to suppress the detection of phosphorescence signals under practical conditions. An example for a quantitative high-speed measurement of fuel concentration at varying pressure and temperature conditions is presented. Quantitative equivalence ratio maps are shown for the fuel injection event within a single cycle in a spark-ignition direct-injected engine, showing the ability of the technique to not only reveal static fuel concentration maps, but also the motion of the fuel cloud along with very steep gradients. Spray velocities determined from the moving fuel cloud are in agreement with previous particle image velocimetry measurements.  相似文献

We investigate the thermodynamical properties of charged torus-like black holes and take it as the working substance to study the heat engines. In the extended phase space, by interpreting the cosmological constant as the thermodynamic pressure, we derive the thermodynamical quantities by the first law of black hole thermodynamics and obtain the equation of state. Then, we calculate the efficiency of the heat engine in the Carnot cycle as well as the rectangular cycle,and investigate how the efficiency changes with respect to volume. In addition, to avoid a negative temperature, we emphasize that the charge of this black hole cannot be arbitrary. Last,we check the calculation accuracy of a benchmark scheme and discuss the upper bound and lower bound for charged torus-like black hole in the scheme.  相似文献

The development of mathematical models for the design of controlstrategies for spark ignition automotive engines is described. The objectiveof the models, used for both simulation and optimization analysis, is theprediction of the effects of control strategies on fuel consumption andemissions of a vehicle over arbitrary driving cycles. In order to achievethe best compromise between precision, experimental costs, computationaltime and flexibility, a mixed modelling approach is used, withphenomenological and input-output models integrated within a hierarchicalsystem.Mean value models have been used to describe the most significant dynamiceffects: (i) air flow. (ii) two phases fuel flow in the intake manifold, and(iii) thermal flow in the cylinder walls. Stochastic effects due to sensorsand actuators can be also predicted.Two-zone and multizone thermodynamic models for the prediction ofpressure cycle sub-models for engine emissions (HC, CO, andNO x and mechanical losses have been developed. Experimentaldesign techniques are also under development to optimize the interactionsbetween experimental analysis and models. Most of the models have beenintegrated in a computer code, used by a major automotive supplier.  相似文献

PageRank algorithm plays a very important role in search engine technology and consists in the computation of the eigenvector corresponding to the eigenvalue one of a matrix whose size is now in the billions. The problem incorporates a parameter that determines the difficulty of the problem. In this paper, the effectiveness of stationary and nonstationary methods are compared on some portion of real web matrices for different choices of . We see that stationary methods are very reliable and more competitive when the problem is well conditioned, that is for small values of . However, for large values of the parameter the problem becomes more difficult and methods such as preconditioned BiCGStab or restarted preconditioned GMRES become competitive with stationary methods in terms of Mflops count as well as in number of iterations necessary to reach convergence.  相似文献

The formation of liquid sulfate aerosols in the isobaric axisymmetric plume of a subsonic aircraft is modeled numerically. The specific features of the appearance and evolution of sulfate aerosols attributable to 2D effects, such as the parameter nonuniformity in the initial section (at the nozzle outlet), mixing of the hot engine jet with the cold air stream, and the transverse turbulent diffusion of aerosol particles and gas mixture components. The equations of gas dynamics for a turbulent axisymmetric jet, the equations of chemical kinetics, the equations for the liquid fractions (water and sulfuric acid), and the relations for the binary nucleation, condensation growth and coagulation of aerosol particles are used. The distributions of the parameters determining the formation of the aerosol phase in the exhaust plume of a B-747 aircraft are obtained and the geometry of the nucleation zone in this plume is determined.  相似文献
